Site Layout Settings

Site Page Width: The width of your site in pixels. 700-800 pixels are a good width for 2-column sites. 840-960 pixels are a good width for 3-column sites.

SiteBuilder Folder Name: This defaults to “files” but if you want to make sure that your site has even less footprints, it can be changed. Change this name before you do anything else with your site.

Primary Keyword: This is the primary keyword for your site. You must set one or RSS news items will not appear on your home page and Articles may not be listed. It helps SEO if your Primary Keyword is in your domain name.

Unique Footprint ID: This is a tag that’s used in some CSS definitions to make your site’s HTML tags unique and remove SiteBuilder Elite footprints. You can enter a word of your own choosing (no spaces allowed) or let SiteBuilder Elite assign one to you randomly. If you do type in your own word, do not put any spaces between letters.

Page Alignment: Set your pages to align to the left, center or right of a browser window.

Article Title Suffix: This is a word (or phrase) that follows an article title (normally left blank). Your article title is based on the web page’s keyword. It is not the same as a title that may be included at the top of an actual article file.

If your site reviewed products for example, you might have a keyword like: xbox 360 and "Xbox 360" would appear at the top of that keyword's page. If you added the word "review" into the Article Title Suffix box, then the page would show this title: "Xbox 360 Review". All pages would include the "review" word on their titles.

Padding: Sets the amount of padding in the columns - how much space there is between text and the edge of the columns. Defaults to 10 pixels but you can change it.

Column Spacing: Sets the amount of space between columns on your pages.

Content Column Color: Set the color of the main content column. This can be different from the colors used in the other columns on the site.

Content Column Text Alignment: Allows you to set how text is justified in the content column. Options are: Left, Center, Right nd Justify. Justify fits text so that it's snug to both the left and right edges of the column (like the print in a book).

Page Color: Set the color of the page. The page is the area where everything else sits, so think of it as a container for the header, menu and columns on the site. You can set its color independently of other items on the site, though normally it would be set to be the same color as the Content Column Color.

Make Page Transparent: If ticked, then the page color is ignored and the page becomes transparent. This means that the other page elements (header, menu, columns) appear to float over the site's background.

Site Background Color: The background color of your site (the area between you page and the browser’s borders).

Site Background Image: A web address (URL) to the background image for your website (optional). Using a background image helps visitors using Internet Explorer realise that a page is loading. Background images also make a site look more appealing.

Site Background Image Type: Allows you to Tile or Repeat your site’s background image. Tiled tiles the background image across and down the page. Repeated tiles the background image across the top of the page only and is useful for adding a vertically graduated background behind your page.

Use Fixed Background: If ticked, keeps the background of your site static, so a page scrolls over a fixed background, rather than the page and background scrolling together.

Site Layout: Choose a 2-Column or 3-Column layout for your site. In 3-column layout, Amazon products and the Chitika eMiniMall appear in the 3rd column (known as the Ad Bar), rather than in your Navigation Bar.

There are three options for a 3-column site layout:

1-1-1: In this layout, the Navigation Bar is on one side of the page and the Adbar on the opposite side. The Ad Bar is always on the opposite side of the page to the Navigation Bar.

2-1: Both the Navigation Bar and Ad Bar are to the left of the main page area.

1-2: Both the Navigation Bar and Ad Bar are to the right of the main page area.

With the 2-1 and 1-2 3-column options, you can flip the positions of the Navigation and Ad Bars by setting the Navigation Bar Alignment: option. Setting it to Left will put the Navigation Bar to the left of the Ad Bar. Setting it to Right will put the Navigation Bar to the right of the Ad Bar. Change the settings yourself to see how your site is affected.
