Ad Networks

Google Adsense - Used as standard on SiteBuilder Elite built pages.

Amazon.com - Ads appear in navigation bar. Also offers Context Links for intext dynamic links

AdBrite - Appears in navigation bar. Also offers intext dynamic links option

Kontera - Offers intext dynamic links (better than AdBrite)

Chitika - Offers contextually driven eMiniMall ads

Commission Junction - One of the biggest networks out there with thousands of merchants. This is an affiliate program mega storethat offers thousands of products from different industries. These are physical rather than digital products that are shipped to a customer, so commissions are lower - typically 2%-10% on average, but up ot 25% is offered with some programs. Some very big companies are here (Buy.com, Staples, Sony, etc). Beware though, they seem to be now applying a quality score to traffic and if you fall below their threshold (which they don't state), they'll close down your account and keep your outstanding commissions.

ShareASale - Commission Junction would originally have been my top recommendation as an affiliate network but since they close accounts without informing affiliates why, they no longer get my #1 recommendation. ShareASale comes in ahead now. Share-a-Sale is one of the best affiliate programs out there even if it has something of a low profile. There are over 2, 000 merchants of real-world physical products with an average of 60 new merchants joining each month. Very prompt on payment of commissions. Minimum payout is $50. They offer some of the highest commissions for physical products you'll find anywhere.

LinkShare - LinkShare is a long-established and well-known affiliate network. It provides all the tools and services merchants need to create, manage and optimize a successful affiliate marketing program. You have to apply to advertisers to get into their programs. Similar results to Commission Junction in acceptance into programs. Hundreds of merchants are listed. Commissions vary, depending on the merchant; some pay a percentage of sales, some a flat amount per sale. Almost all merchants sell "physical" real-world goods and commissions on such goods are always lower than those for strictly digital goods. Commission rates are equivalent to those offered by Commission Junction. Commission checks are mailed out promptly each month.

Google Affiliate Network - Google's network of merchants. Many here are not with other networks like Commission Junction or ShareASale.

PepperJam Network - the new kid on the block. They have some big-name advertisers on board with more joining all the time (over 200 advertisers at time of writing). This is a CPA (cost-per-action) network, so you get paid when a visitor does something (like following through on buying a product, filling in a form, etc.). You don’t get paid for clicks as with Adsense, but CPA payouts are higher.

PayDotCom - PayDotCom has been around for a few years now and it also markets information (digital) products. Payment for products is by PayPal so you do need a PayPal account to use this particular program either as an affiliate or as a seller. You can think of PayDotCom as an alternative to Clickbank. Similar type products are available and it too has 1000s of products in its marketplace.  Some e-goods marketers use PayDotCom in preference to Clickbank, so you can find products that are exclusive to this network.

Text Link Ads - Code not included as standard with SiteBuilder Elite. Pays for text ad placements on websites/pages (usually site-wide on the navigation bar). The criteria for accepting sites into their network seems to be that a site needs a Google PR of 4+ and an Alexa ranking of less that 1, 000, 000. PR4 sites can expect to get $5 per link per month. Higher PR sites will earn more (my PR6 site gets $40 per link per month). They will only consider sites that use a scripting language like PHP. Simple HTML/Javascript sites are no good.

Clickbank - Biggest digital products network on the planet. Mostly geared towards internet marketing but contains other product lines as well. You would need to create any links to products yourself.

Affiliate Power Ads - If your site is about internet marketing or a related theme, this might be worth a look. It advertises products from the Clickbank marketplace. Products are randomly selected. Clickthroughs probably aren’t great but commissions on item purchases can be high.

CBProSense - Not and ad network per se, but creates randomly rotating Adsense-style adblocks on your site listing products from Clickbank. A 12-month subscription plan costs $89.95.

CBProAds - Another way of displaying products from Clickbank on your sites using Adsense-style adbocks. They can also produce products in list format which is a great way of adding products into your Recommended Products list. $39.95 per year.
