The Process Of Building A Site
Any website needs two things:
- webhosting
- a domain name
In order to build a site with SiteBuilder Elite, you will need a domain name (web hosting is covered here). A domain name allows you to build three types of site:
- a site on that domain
- a site in a subdomain of that domain
- a site in a subfolder of that domain
So what are the differences?
A site built on a domain requires a site licence. A domain requires an annual registration fee.
A site built in s subdomain requires its own site licence. Subdomains can be added to existing domains at no extra cost. Subdomains are treated as discrete websites by the search engines (i.e. they're looked on as being separate websites)
A site built in a subfolder does not require a site licence (providing there's already a licence for the domain). Subfolders can be added to a domain at no extra cost. Sites built in subfolders are seen as part of the main domain. They're useful if you want to build sits in sub-niches related to the main domain niche.
